Colchester Hazelmere

As part of the government initiative to offer extended facilities for every community, Nannas was awarded the contract to operate a Neighbourhood Nursery adjacent to Hazelmere Infants and Nursery School in Colchester.

The nursery opened in June 2004 and is a 56 place, purpose built nursery.

The nursery is open from 6.30am to 6.30 pm and offers full and half day sessions. The nursery also offers facilities for school age children through KidZone.

The nursery employs a high standard of Nursery Practitioners, all of which running a room are qualified to at least a Level 3. Every member of staff working for the company is qorking towards a relevant childcare qualification from Level 2 upwards. Our in house training ensures that we are always looking to improve and develop our good practise.

The nursery and garden has recently been refurbished to allow a more natural environment. The nursery offers free flow snack in the morning and a sustainable snack in the afternoon. We ask that you provide midday lunch, nappies and wipes for your child. To ensure that your child settles in as quickly as possible we have settling in visits before they start whereby they are introduced to their Key Person and a care plan is discussed.

We welcome all parents to come and visit us and see all the exciting things that we do which includes for the older children a weekly forest school session in the local woods.

The nursery also received a glowing OfSTED report, gaining the coverted accolade of OUTSTANDING at their most recent inspection in November 2009. This entire document can be found on the Ofsted website under our registration number: EY288950.

In September 2005 Nannas opened their second nursery at Colchester General Hospital. This 60 place nursery works in partnership with CHUFF (Colchester Hospital University Foundation) and is open extended hours to support the flexibility and working hours of staff at the hospital, from 6.30am-6.30pm.

The purpose designed open plan nursery features two outdoor play areas with a range of homely, inviting rooms accommodating children aged birth to 5 years for them to explore and learn through play. The nursery uses natural resources and materials to support children?s learning through play and recently had its baby room and rear garden developed to embrace this ethos.

Free flow play takes place throughout the nursery, with children encouraged to explore, play and learn at their own pace with access to all toys and equipment both in and outdoors, with the garden areas set up to replicate the indoor classroom, used in all weathers.

The nursery offers a home-made cooked lunch with healthy morning and afternoon snacks and a breakfast before 8.15am. The nursery recently received 5 gold stars from the Environmental Health inspections of the kitchen and was praised for its high quality, healthy, well-balanced menu provided.

The nursery was also awarded OUTSTANDING in its recent OfSTED Inspection in March 2009.
