On Saturday 25th March, Nannas Day Nurseries held a special Forest School training session for our children and their families!
Forest School is a vital part of Nannas ethos and practice and our pre-school children thrive on their weekly sessions with our trained Forest School Leader Michael! Later on this year we are hoping to begin introductory sessions for our 2 year olds, in both our gardens with our Trainee Forest School Leader Imogen!
Nannas uses two approved sites in Colchester - at Welsh Woods and Highwoods. Children are provided with waterproof all-in-one outfits and spare wellies (if needed) and have great fun exploring the different seasons at the forest in all weathers!
We wanted our parents and carers to experience the magic of Forest School themselves and everyone enjoyed exploring the activities on offer, which included bug hunting, den building, forest curtains, making mud faces and whittling!
The large group who attended were a mixture of families from both our settings, and it was a fantastic opportunity for parents and children of all ages to socialise together!
We gathered around our campfire at 10.30am and after a brief history and introduction to Forest School parents and carers were free to explore and toast marshmellows! At the end of the session we shared our learning experiences from the morning and discussed the extensive range of development which took place.
Lots of fun was had by all!
